Youth Golf: Hawktree hosts Drive, Chip, Putt qualifying

Hawktree Golf Club hosted local qualifying in the drive, chip and putt competition.

Over 60 golfers competed for the right to advance to the state level competition in Fargo.

The golfers were classified by gender and ages ranging from 7 through 15. Contestants were awarded points based on how far or how close they hit the ball.

Sisters Jorri and Jaydn Smith competed in the same age group and advanced to the next round of the competition.

"It's fun," Jorri Smith said. "You putt and you hit really far."

"The best part was how I got it really close to the hole for putting," Jadyn Smith said. "I like to swing the golf club high."

The next round of the competition takes place in Fargo.
