Wednesday's PM Forecast Update 11/8

Another cold day with one more round of scattered snow before big changes.

From the KX Storm Center:
A cold front is moving South, through the Dakotas. This system is bringing scattered snow and leaving behind some slush/snow on the roads, North of Hwy 2. We are not expecting any high totals from this clipper. Instead, headlines are focused on temperatures. A reinforcing shot of cold air will roll across the state, in the wake of this passing system. This means that it will stay cold through tomorrow. Lows will be in the single digits & teens with highs in the teens & 20s through Friday morning. By Friday, highs will climb well into the 30s, still staying below average for this time of the year. Average highs in the 40s & lows in the 20s. There will also be more scattered, light snow as another weak system moves West to East across the Dakotas. Again, we are not looking at any significant totals. But it will get a little breezy.
The biggest difference between Wednesday's & Friday's clippers will be with temperatures. Instead of bringing cold, Canadian air over the area like the system on Wednesday. Friday's "Pacific low pressure system" will bring in warmer air from the Central Plains and further West. This means that the warm-up is on. After climbing into the 30s Friday, temps will not move much on Saturday. As we go through the latter half of our weekend and into next week, highs will climb from the 30s into the 40s.
In the wake of Friday's Pacific Low, a broad ridge of high pressure will build and extend across the area with a lot more sunshine, seasonable temps and light to moderate winds through the rest of our 7day Outlook.
With one more system on the way, we are not looking at any significant winter weather, when it comes to precip. Tonight & tomorrow night will be cold again with lows dipping through the teens and into the single digits. Chills will be near and below zero for much of the area. As normal, high pressure means more sun & a calmer weather pattern. So after Friday, it gets much nicer.

Tonight, mostly cloudy with snow ending and some clearing. Lows in the single digits with a few areas below zero and a North/NW wind 2-10mph. 20% chance of early snow and chills falling below zero.

Thursday will be mostly sunny with in & out clouds and continued cold temps.Highs in the 20s & teens with a WNW/SE wind 5-15mph G20.

Thursday night, more clouds rolling in with continued cold temps and more light snow on the way. Lows in the teens & single digits with a SE wind 10-20mph G25.

Friday will be partly to mostly cloudy with hit & miss light snow and flurries. Temps will warm up and it will be a little breezy. Highs in the 30s & 40s with a SE/South wind 5-15mph G20. 20% chance of snow with chills climbing out of the teens & 20s.

Friday night, partly cloudy and not as cold. Lows in the teens & 20s with a light wind swinging around to the West. Chills in the teens.
