Friday's PM Forecast Update 8/11

Rising rain chances with a few storms becoming strong.

From the KX Storm Center:
Rain chances return & isolated thunderstorms may become severe, tonight through Saturday. Our next chance for rain is associated with a low pressure system that will bring scattered rain & thunderstorms to much of Western & Central ND. Not everyone will get wet, but those who do can expect 0.25"-0.75" and up to 1"-2" possible. Higher accumulations will not be widespread, but significant totals are not out of the question. It is just a matter of where it hits. This low pressure system will continue to slowly track South/SE through Saturday & into Saturday night. By Sunday, more sunshine with slightly lower high temperatures. So, through the weekend and into the beginning of the work week, highs will stay in the 70s and below average for this time of the year. As this system rolls through the Dakotas, there is a Marginal risk of severe weather for the Southern half of Western ND & Saturday for SW & South Central ND.

A Marginal risk of severe weather means that isolated severe thunderstorms are possible. They will be limited in duration, coverage & intensity. Potential impacts include strong winds 40-60mph, Large hail up to 1", frequent cloud to ground lightning and a low risk of tornadoes

Rain chances will wrap up Saturday night with more sunshine through the rest of the weekend and it may become a little breezy at times. Early next week, highs will climb back into the lower to mid 80s with another round of rain chances Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday AM. The latter half of the 7day Outlook will bring more sunshine and continued, slightly warmer temps.
