UMary and Minot State basketball add another chapter to their rivalry on the hardwood floor.
A lot of these players know each other from high school.
Mary's Gabbie Bohl will face off with her former teammate from Bishop Ryan, Maddie Wald. While Minot High Alum Cassie Askvig will be the Bismarck representative against former Miss basketball in Minot's Holly Johnson.
"I mean no matter what I will always be a supporter of Maddie she's a great point guard I got to play with," Gabbie Bohl said, "and she did a lot of great things and she's doing a lot of great things in Minot right now you know like she's a great player and someone we'll definitely gonna have to watch out for this weekend because I see how she can play and no hard she brings it."
"It's cool to go home," Cassie Askvig said, "and not to be playing for them not representing Minot it's a weird feeling but I enjoy coming from the outside and just having a different perspective."
The Beavers are also excited for the contest and know they'll be matched up with familiar faces as well.
"I just know Gabbie more than Cassie," Holly Johnson said, "but I'm sure it'll be fun for Maddie because her and Gabbie played against each other obviously with the Ryan the Ryan school and all that kind of stuff so we're excited."
"I'm definitely excited to play Gabbie my former teammate and Cassie too," Maggie Wald said, "and having Holly back on the Minot floor with me is really fun so I think it's gonna be a good matchup and we're excited to play Mary."
The rivalry tips off at 2 p.m. in Minot.
