Shiloh Christian, Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky, Wilton-Wing and Standing Rock all advanced to the semifinals of the Region 5 Tournament.
The Skyhawks defeated the Washburn Cardinals 65-46. Macauley Young led all scorers with 22 points and also had 11 rebounds. Jaden Mitzel added 20 points and Jonas Mitzel finished with 15 points.
Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky then defeated New Salem-Almont 53-48 in the second game of the day. The Trojans built a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter, but the Holsteins pulled to within three in the final seconds, but Trojans leading scorer Trapper Jacobs hit two free throws to put the game out of reach. Jacobs finished with 24, and Seth Laframboise added 18.
In the third game, Wilton-Wing edged Flasher 49-44. The Miners began the game on a 12-0 run and led 14-5 after the first quarter, but the Bulldogs chipped away and trailed by just one heading into the fourth quarter.
In the final minute, Wilton-Wing's Slade Schatz hit a go-ahead mid-range jumper to make the score 44-42.
On the other end, Flasher's Hunter Frederick tried a low post shot, but senior forward Nick Backman swatted the attempt away and into the hands of teammate Tanner Miller, who was promptly fouled. Miller and Tate Dickson helped secure the win with several made free throws at the end of the game.
The final game of the night featured Standing Rock and Underwood. The Warriors quickly jumped out to a 21-7 lead and did not look back. The Warriors won the game by a score of 73-47, with Andrew Brown leading the Warriors with 18 points.
The semifinals are set for Thursday at the Event Center. Shiloh Christian and Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky square off at 6 p.m., with Wilton-Wing and Standing Rock tipping off at 7:30 p.m.
