Marauders Originals reunite in Bismarck

It's not officially homecoming weekend for UMary, but this morning on campus, some football legends had a homecoming of their own.

The university today honored the members of the original UMary football team that kicked off the program 30 years ago. A gathering held at the Lumen Vitae campus center
gave these "Marauders Originals," like Hall of Fame linebacker Toby Schweitzer and coach Jim Driscoll, a chance to share stories and plenty of laughs.

The program closed with each alum getting a custom jersey and mini helmet. The players said it was almost overwhelming to be back with so many old friends.

"Some of these guys I haven't seen since we left the college in 1990-91, when everybody graduated," Schweitzer said. "So it was very special to see all the old players and the friends."

After the morning program, the players headed over to the Bowl to help lead the current players into the stadium before the game against Minot State.
