HS FBall: Century, Bismarck, Legacy Class AAA quarterfinal preview

The Century, Bismarck and Legacy football programs have Class AAA quarterfinal matchups on Oct. 27.

The Century Patriots football team is trying to reach Michael Jordan status, as they try to win three championships in a row.

There quest starts Friday against Fargo Davies.

These two teams met a couple of weeks ago and a strong second half performance from Century lead to a 38-25 blow out.

Since this is the second time these schools will met the coaches have to dig deeper for an advantage.

"It comes down to a matter of matchups the second time through," Ron Wingenbach said. "They know our strengths and weakness and vice versa."

Their game starts Friday at 7 p.m. at the Community Bowl.

Bismarck and Fargo South play in the game before Century's.

Back on September 22, the Demons manhandled South, 41-14.

For South, that was their first loss of the season. As these teams meet for the second time, Bismarck can't live in the past.

"What we have to take into consideration is that we had a lot of big plays against them the first time," Bismarck head coach Mark Gibson said. "If you take out those big plays, we are evenly matched with them."

The Demons try to make history repeat itself against Fargo South on Friday at 4 p.m.

Legacy makes the postseason for the second time in the school's four-year history.

However, they draw the toughest opponent in the quarterfinals: No. 1 West Fargo Packers.

On Sept. 16, West Fargo showed no mercy in there 39-7 win, but since that date the Sabers have grown up.

"We do have some guys that we look to," Legacy Defensive Coordinator Jon Breitbach said, "but we are starting to grow some depth in our team. We have some other guys stepping up and that's great to see. We'll really count on them over the next two weeks."

For their second matchup, Legacy will be at West Fargo at 7 p.m.
