Cross Country: Rinas wins individual state title for Mandan, Century captures Class A crown

Mandan sophomore Kelby Rinas and Century senior Evan Sayler won the Class A individual state titles in Valley City on Saturday.

Rinas won with a time of 18:16, while Sayler recorded a time of 15:42.

Century went on to win the team title, while Fargo Davies took first on the girls' side.

Kelby Rinas, "It was really exciting," Rinas said. "I'm really glad that I had a good race today. I just wanted to come out here and run well for my team, so that was fun."

"It's unbelievable. My personal goal, last night I was thinking of it and everything, and it's just two things checked off my list," Sayler said. 

In Class B, Hillsboro/Central Valley sophomore Reagan Baesler won her second straight individual title in a time of 18:25. On the boys' side, New Town's Jaiven Hale came in first with a time of 16:03.

Said Hale, "It was pretty amazing. I didn't know if I was going to win or not, but it felt good. I didn't know what I was thinking. I was just running. We're training really hard together, and we just talked to each other what to do for the next upcoming season and all that."
