Under Pete Stanton, Dickinson St has continued on the tradition that Hank Beisiot left. The Hawks went to the national playoffs last season falling in the first round but with a host of returning starters, they think they can go even further. The defending North Star champions who are ranked 21st in the national poll begin the year on the road against Montana Western. There's a lot of excitement around the program nowadays and with that excitement comes expectations.
(Pete Stanton, DSU head coach)
"We had a good year last year and our guys made a run by winning the conference championship which is always a goal of ours. Then we got into the national playoffs. Another reasonf or our excitement is that we have a lot of our guys back . We return sixteen, seventeen of our returning starters from last year. A lot of those guys were here over the summer working out and really committed to the program so I think that's another reason there's a lot of excitement, "
(Kaler Ray, DSU QB)
"We got high expectations. OBviously we want to win a conference championship. That's what needs to happen first. We want to make a push for the playoffs and really do some damage,"
(Johnny Mangano, KX Sports)
DSU's game against Montana Western is at 6 mountain on Saturday. Western is going to be a tough game. Like the Blue Hawks they're ranked in the top 25 in the country.
