There was plenty of excitement in the air at the Wings of Freedom Air Show in Sidney, Montana.

"They're fun to watch-all the cool planes," says 11-year-old Corbin Mullin.

Cool planes like those belonging to the Showbirds, the Canadian Armed Forces Demonstration team.

But with all the heart-stopping action in the air, Snowbird Maciej Hatta says it's the people on the ground that make the show truly special.

"Talking to the folks on the ground after we land, shaking hands, signing autographs, and talking with the local people who have come out to watch you or from far away sometimes to watch you, is a real good part of the experience for myself," says Hatta, Snowbird 3, inner left wing of the demonstration team's formation.

Michael Furdek and his family made the trip from Williston to Sidney for the show. And they were glad they did. Furdek was most impressed with the pilots' aerial maneuvers.

"Being able to go up in the sky and almost stall out and be able to maintain their ability to do that as they come back down and then continue to fly on. It's been pretty phenomenal to see that."

And it was phenomenal to see the crowd as well. This year's air show soared to new heights. An estimated 2500 people were in attendance-the most in the air show's history.

"We've had the top acts in the world and that's helped. And it brought a lot of people out. Really enjoyed it and looking forward to maybe another one down the road. We'll wait and see," says Bryan Prevost, the Wings of Freedom air show coordinator.

If this year's show is any indication, there will be quite a few people waiting for the next one.
