Williston Police Department Provides Recommendations After Viral Video Sparks Outrage

Outrage on social media after a video gone viral.

The video was taken in Williston and shows two young children outside in negative temperatures without jackets. One of the children is sitting in a grocery cart and appears to be barefoot.

It is KX News policy not to identify suspects in criminal investigations until charges have been filed.
We have decided not to air the video since no charges have been made in the case at this point in time.

However, we we reached out to the Williston Police Department to see what should be done if you witness a similar incident.

The department informed us that it received the first report of the incident yesterday at 8:25 a.m. That's about a half hour after the incident initially took place. The department thanks all those who reported the incident and urges citizens who witness any similar situations, to contact police immediately.

"The best recommendation we have is notifying us right away so we can get involved. Especially with child abuse cases. We take them extremely, they're very serious. And we work very closely with Williams County Social Services. We're mandated reporters as law enforcement. We're very lucky to have that great working relationship," says Williston Police Department Sergeant Detective Danielle Hendricks.

The Williston Police Department informs us the matter is still under investigation and that the department is working with Social Services in its investigation of the case.
