Watford City Native Selected For National Lifetime Project

Lifetime has launched a digital series called "Her America." The series features one woman from each of the fifty states.

And the woman selected from North Dakota?

That would be Jessie Veeder, something of a modern-day Renaissance woman. Writer, musician....and mom of two.

As Veeder belts out "You Are My Sunshine", a voice from a back bedroom calls out, "Don't sing!"

"Haha. That's so funny. Don't sing," laughs Veeder. "Will you come sing with me?" she calls back to her two-year-old daughter.

Veeder lives on a ranch that's been in her family for more than a century. Her music reflects her passion for her North Dakota roots, a passion she shares with others.

"I'm happiest when I'm telling stories and performing. And I'm happiest when I'm with my family.," says Veeder.

And while it might seem like a charmed life, Veeder's life journey has had its share of roadblocks.

"I lost six pregnancies. Maybe more. But 6 confirmed miscarriages. And it was excruciating. And it was scary. And frustrating," says Veeder. " And if I can offer any hope. I never thought I would be the one to offer hope. There were times when I just thought we wouldn't be able to have kids," she says.

After fertility difficulties, a Minnesota doctor diagnosed Veeder's condition, polycystic ovarion syndrome,
 and prescribed medication.

And while it's certainly a tough balancing act, Veeder's now able to share her love for North Dakota and her passion for music with her daughters.

"Edie, our two year old just loves to be out on the ranch. It starts young. To get them loving this lifestyle and understanding it and wanting to be a part of it. So we're really excited to show her and show Rosie when she gets old enough too," says Veeder.

That love of her home state that's she's shared with so many-
For Veeder, it all starts right at home.
