Trial Begins In Attemped Murder Case

Woman found along a county road bleeding and wearing only a T-shirt in 2015

David Mbulu is facing four felony charges including attempted murder after a woman was found along a county road bleeding and wearing only a t-shirt in freezing temperatures a year and a half ago.

The prosecution alleges that Mbulu restrained the woman while a co-defendant sexually assaulted her. The prosecution also claims that Mbulu struck the woman in the head with a car jack and attemped to strangle her. Mbulu has plead not guilty to those charges and during opening arguments, his defense attorney argued that Mbulu and the victim were friends. She also stated that video footage from her client's cell phone will show the co-defendant, Jean-Michael Kisi, making offensive remarks and that Kisi and the victim did not get along.

The trial  is scheduled to resume tomorrow. Kisi's trial is scheduled to begin in May.
