Take Back the Night rally at Minot State University

According to the national sexual violence resource center, one in five women, and one in 16 men are sexually assaulted while in college.

Students at Minot State University hosted their annual Take Back the Night rally.

The event acknowledges that violence can strike all genders.

Students and community members marched around campus in support of one another promoting healthy relationships.

"We want to make sure that the community knows that they are not alone and that we support them as a community," said Katie Johnson, a student at MSU.

"It's really important because it spreads the word around campus just as well as in our groups you know people that do come to this we go talk to our friends and it just spreads the word more and more," said Chris Carmes, a student at MSU.

Take Back the Night is an annual event held on college campuses and communities nationwide.
