Minot, ND - A new member of Minot's city council wants to move into the mayor's chair.
One day after Mayor Chuck Barney said he would not seek re-election, Shaun Sipma announced he will run for that position.
Sipma was elected to the city council last summer as part of the process of shrinking the size of the council from 14 to 6.
He says there are many opportunities ahead that require strong leadership and promises to be an advocate for the people of the city.
Sipma is an insurance agent and the secretary of the board for Farm Rescue.
He was formerly a reporter and anchor here on KX News.
The election is June 12th.
