Rugby, ND - The geographical center of North America trademark is back in the hands of Rugby, North Dakota.
The Rugby Chamber of Commerce announced today the town had won its battle to receive the US Patent and Trademark Office designation as the principal holder of the phrase, "Geographical Center of North America."
The issue was raised last year when Hanson's Bar in Robinson was awarded federal registration of the trademark after it was discovered Rugby's trademark had expired.
Today, the Faegre Baker Daniels law firm announced the federal office had officially returned Rugby to the lead position for the trademark.
The firm said it submitted evidence that showed the long history of Rugby's continuous use of the phrase and the town's registration was approved on August 22nd.
