Minot, ND - A Minot native is hoping to the first new Secretary of State in North Dakota in 26 years.

Democrat Josh Boschee was campaigning today in Minot - meeting with local officials about their experiences with the Secretary of State's office.
Republican Al Jaeger has held that office since 1992 and will not be on the ballot this fall.

Boschee says his campaign is focused on improving the experiences of business owners, non-profits, and farmers with the Secretary of State's office.
They all have to register with that office.

(Josh Boschee, (D) Candidate for Secretary of State) "We want to make sure that businesses can get set up, whether it's a contractor, whether it's an oil service company, or a new non-profit in the community meeting the needs of the community, can get up an going and we aren't a barrier, we are actually a partner in that.""

Boschee, a Democrat, is up against Republican Will Gardner of Mandan, who won his party's nomination last month.
