Meet the conductor of this year's "Messiah" concert

It takes many hours of rehearsals to get everything just right for a performance as large as Handel's "Messiah."

This year's conductor, Efraín Amaya has been involved in music since he was a young boy. His father would take him to concerts every Sunday morning back in his home of Venezuela.

In 2015, he began working as the Music Director for the Minot Symphony Orchestra. Although this was his first time directing the Messiah in North Dakota, he says he wasn't too worried about the concert.

"Every concert is different and you -it's just the thing about live music: anything can happen. So, which is why it makes it so interesting and alive." says Efraín Amaya, Conductor.

The Messiah has been performed in Minot annually since 1929.
