How Cookie Dough Is Hurting Your Health

It's that time of year when we get to make Christmas cookies and today is National Cookie Day.

But it's important to make sure you're only eating those cookies once they are fully baked.

Some people enjoy the cookie before the oven when it's just cookie dough.

When you eat it raw, there are some health problems that can follow it.

According to the CDC, the flour in the dough can be filled with E coli bacteria and when that isn't cooked you could be a risk for an infection.

Along with that, the eggs can carry salmonella which is another tye of bacteria.

"The consequence would be acuquiring one of those food born illness E coli or salmonella and you might experience abdominal discomfort, diahrehea, bloating, vomiting, and all sort of different symptoms that aren't very fun," said Lexie Pullin, Registered Dietian/Nutritionist.

Pullin adds that once the cookies are fully baked, it's completely safe to eat and enjoy.
