For many, it is a joyous time, but for families and friends who have lost loved ones, it can be hard.
Emily Medalen tells us how people are getting ready to honor those, they lost in combat.

Remember, Honor, and Teach.
That is the mission of the Wreaths Across America Foundation - and 3 years ago, it was brought to Minot.
The holiday season can be difficult for families of deceased veterans.
To remember and honor them during this time, a ceremony is held each year at Rosehill Cemetary.
On Saturday, December 17, the gate will open at 10 am for people to come in and pay their respects.
More than 300 wreaths will be placed by veterans, and loved ones, at each and every headstone.
Our local coordinator says veterans should be remembered all year long.
Applications are out for those who wish to fill one out to volunteer the day of the ceremony.
Minot, Mandan, Fargo, and Fort Totten are the 4 places in North Dakota that participate in Wreaths Across America.
