Minot, ND - The chairman of the Ward County Weather Modification Board says cloud seeding won't stop until the end of August in the county despite a vote by county commissioners.
Hank Bodmer said this is the most critical time of year for cloud seeding to suppress hail.
Dozens of farmers complained to the Ward County Commission this week that cloud seeding was also reducing the amount of rain falling on the county.
Commissioners responded by voting to end the cloud seeding immediately.
But the top state weather modification program official said it takes a request from the county weather modification board to end cloud seeding that's already contracted for.
Bodmer said there is no plan for the county weather modification board to meet to consider ending the cloud seeding.
