600 students from around North Dakota gathered at Minot State University for the annual Northwest Music Festival. The students, between 8th and 12th grade, had been practicing the music prior to the beginning of the festival on Friday. Two bands and three choirs were able to show off their hard work in a concert held in Anne Nicole Nelson Hall.
"As a kid, I was so excited to go every single year and learn so much from these directors and -you know- meet all these new people and get connected. And now that I'm a junior in college and running this thing, it's a lot more stressful than I thought it was going to be." said Kaylee Capp, Music Education Major at MSU.
Over 1,000 students applied from 70 schools around the state for this year's 37th Northwest Music Festival.
