Minot, ND - One year ago, Rita Bates took home one hundred thousand dollars for a single golf shot.
Now, there's a chance someone could win much more than that.
Jim Olson is live with details.
Rita Bates holed out to win the grand prize in the United Way's Hole in One Shootout last September here at the Minot Country Club.
And now, the contest is back again - but it's grown.
Local Farmers Union Insurance agents dreamed up the idea as a way to spice up their annual gift to United Way.
Rather than just writing a check, they put together this contest.
Golfers pay ten bucks to shoot seven times to qualify for the final round, where the big prize can be won.
And this year, that big prize is even bigger.
(Josh Ressler, Contest Sponsor) "We decided to up it this year. We got some sponsors - a number of businesses stepped up and helped us out. And we were able to purchase a bigger prize so it's going to be $250,000 this year."
They raised about three thousand dollars for the United Way last year and hope to make it at least five thousand this year.
You can qualify between Noon and 7pm tomorrow and Noon to 5:30 Thursday - and the final round will be Thursday night right here.
By the way, if no one gets an ace in the finals, the person with the closest shot wins a 2018 membership to the Minot Country Club.
