School board suspends superintendent without pay

On Monday the Bowman County School Board voted unanimously (6 - 0), to suspend Superintendent David Mahon without pay effective immediately.
School board president, Kevin Bucholz, said that Mahon will still receive insurance benefits while suspended.
The board also passed a motion to start discharge proceedings, which was also a unanimous vote.
Now that Mahon is suspended, the school district will start the process of looking for an interim superintendent.
Bucholz said they would like to find someone with experience, possibly a "retired" superintendent looking to help out.
Before today's decision Mahon was put on administrative leave near the end of March.
He is currently charged with two Class C Felony drug charges: Endangerment of a Child or Vulnerable Adult, which carries a maximum of five years imprisonment or a $10,000 fine, or both if convicted.
He is also charged with two Class B Misdemeanors: Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Controlled Substance
He has a court date scheduled in May
