Dickinson Police Department posts overdose warning on social media

The Dickinson Police Department is concerned about a string of overdoses and deaths in the area, and they fear a batch of heroin is circulating in the area laced with fentanyl.

Dickinson police chief, Dustin Dassinger, issued a warning to people on the department's Facebook page.

There have been four overdoses in a little more than a week, and two of them have resulted in death.

An official with the department says fentanyl is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine, and a small dose can shut a person's body down.

There is currently an ongoing investigation as to where the drugs are coming from.

"Drugs are concerning all the way around whether its for kids or adults or whatever. It leads to other crimes that people wouldn't commit unless they were under the influence," said Captain David Wilkie, Dickinson Police Department.

The police department wants you to call them if you have any information that might help the investigation.
