Coffee house in Dickinson sets up a gift card giving tree

The United Way in Dickinson has a new project this holiday season for children of low income families.

The non-profit organization is partnering with a local business on a gift card giving tree.

The tree will be set up at Serendipity Coffee House with donation cards for kids between 12 to 17 years of age.

Residents can purchase a gift card for any amount and a retailer of their choice.

The United Way will hand them out the week before Christmas.

"In order to ensure our teenagers of low income families do not fall through the cracks for Christmas, and that is why we came up with the giving tree," said Nicole De Leon, Exec. Director of United Way of Dickinson.

Donations will be accepted up to Dec.15, and the United Way plans on handing out cards to more than 75 teenagers this year.
