A ridge of high is extended over the Dakotas , Canada, Midwest & Great Lakes region. A weak low pressure system is developing over Montana. This slow moving system will impact our area late this week and into the weekend. In the meantime, a ridge of high pressure will continue to broaden over the Northern & Central plains, Midwest & Great Lakes region. This strengthening high will keep a developing low to our west (over Montana). Tonight through early Wednesday, expect scattered rain & a few thunderstorms. This piece of energy will bring a low risk for severe weather. In the wake of this weak system, expect more sunshine, warming temperatures & winds becoming moderate to strong and breezy for much of our area. Moderate to strong winds in advance of a weekend cold front may prompt a Wind Advisory. This weekend, we will see increasing clouds and rising rain chances. A cold front will move through our area from late Saturday, through Sunday and into Monday. This cold front will bring a chance for rain & thunderstorms, followed by much cooler air. From Sunday, through the beginning of the work week expect in & out clouds with off/on rain chances and much cooler temperatures. Highs will be in the 60s & 70s for much of our area.
Tonight, expect gradually increasing clouds with a chance for scattered rain/storms and a low risk for severe weather. Lows will be in the 50s & 60s with an East/SE wind 2-12mph. 30% chance for rain.
Wednesday, rain chances will come to an end followed by clearing skies. Highs in the 80s with a few 90s and a SE wind 10-20mph, becoming a strong at times. 20% chance for rain.
Wednesday night, will bring fair to partly cloudy skies with a mild feel. Lows on either side of 60 with a SE wind 5-15mph G20.
Thursday, expect plenty of sunshine with in & out clouds and moderate to strong winds. Highs in the 80s with a few 90s and a south wind 15-25mph G40.
Thursday night will bring mostly clear skies with continued moderate to strong winds. Lows in the 60s with a SE wind 15-25mph G35.
