Morton County Sheriff’s Office executed their first Narcan treatment, saving a 26-year-old overdosing on heroin.
They responded to a medical call around 7:30pm on November 22 north of Mandan of an unconscious male with labored breathing.
Upon arrival to the location, the deputy immediately administered a dose of Narcan. The subject became more alert and was transported to a local hospital by Metro Ambulance for further treatment.
Deputies found prescription pills in the subject’s pocket which were placed into evidence. However, witnesses did not say how or where the subject had used heroin.
“This is the first time the Morton County Sheriff’s Office has had to administer Narcan, and we are grateful it was successful in reviving the subject,” Sheriff Kyle Kirchmeier said. “The deputies responding had only been issued their supply of Narcan earlier that day, so the timing was impeccable.”
