Beth Ward has devoted herself to teaching women how to stay safe and aware of their surroundings.
"It's about how fast you can be taken if you're not paying attention," says Beth Ward, Founder of Pretty Loaded.

Ward is the founder of Pretty Loaded.
"It gave me the confidence to be out anywhere," says Cassandra Baker, Pretty Loaded Student.

Ward has been doing this for about a year and a half, but today is a big day for her.
That's because it's the first National Situational Awareness Day.
"Every year the National Calendar gets 18,000 inquiries for new days. They only accept 30 new ones every year and they chose our day," says Ward.

And there's a reason they chose today.
Today is Dru Sjodin's birthday.
A young Grand Forks woman who was kidnapped and murdered in 2003.
"Dru Sjodin is what inspired me to start pretty loaded because bad things happen to good people everyday," says Ward.

Ward hopes that now when the millions of people will see this day on the National Calendar Day,
It will help keep people safe.
Even is it's just one, all of this hard work would be worth it.

The private investigator that solved the Sjodin case saw the video Ward made and invited her to speak at a private investigators council.
He just happened to see it on Sjodin's birthday too.
