Bismarck - Kicking off Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, The Missouri Valley Coalition for Homeless People is asking the community for help in collecting food donations.
One organization answering the call is Prairie Heights church.
The congregation is collecting donations for snacks -- to -- go for the homeless and hungry.
One church member says partnering with the Missouri Valley Coalition was her way of helping to make a difference.
"As a church, we can teach the people that come into our church that it is more important to give and to serve than to just acquire wealth," Latifah Kraemer, Prairie Heights administrator says.
"We are able to meet people's hunger and those tangible needs. It shows that we care about them, " Jenna Furlong, Prairie Heights church member says.
