Dorrell's PM Forecast Update Monday 3/20

First day of spring with scattered rain & a slight cool down on the way

From the KX Storm Center:
Across Western & Central ND today, we started off this first day of spring under cloudy skies with scattered rain/mix on radar. Through the day, scattered precip has not been affecting everyone. However some of us have been getting wet. Through this afternoon, skies are clearing out on the back side of this weak cold front that is stretched across the state. As of this afternoon, winds were becoming breezy in our Northern region. Also, a slightly cooler air mass is moving over the state, in the wake of this weak front. There will be a short-lived break from widespread precip. Some light snow showers/flurries and mix will be possible (Southwest) early Tuesday morning. By Wednesday a weak piece of energy will move across the Dakotas, bringing scattered mix/rain back into the forecast for much of Western & Central ND. Another chance for widespread precip is expected Thursday/Friday.
Through the 7day planner, highs will be above freezing with lows on either side of 32. This means a couple of things, most of our precip will be rain/mix with a few areas of light snow possible. Very little (if any) snow accumulation is expected and liquid precip will help melt any of the remaining snow pack that is still around. A ridge will set up through the latter half of our 7day planner with temps warming back above average for this time of the year.

Tonight will bring in & out clouds with tapering rain chances and more clearing. It will feel a little cool. Lows in the teens & 20s with a North/NE wind 2-12mph.

Tuesday, partly to mostly cloudy with some in & out clouds and cooler temps. Highs in the 20s & 30s with a North/East wind 5-15mph G20.

Tuesday night, increasing clouds with rising precip chances late and it will feel a little chilly. Lows in the teens & 20s with an East/SE wind 5-15mph G20. 20% chance for AM precip.

Wednesday, mostly cloudy with some clearing and winds becoming strong. There will be a good chance for scattered mix/rain. Highs in the 40s with a few 50s (West) and a few 30s (East). SE wind 15-25mph G30 and a 40% chance for mix/rain.

Wednesday night, partly to mostly cloudy and a little cool. Lows in the 20s & 30s with a SE/South wind 5-15mph G20. 30% chance for continued scattered rain/mix.
