It's the season of giving, but for many, where to give makes doing a good deed a little harder.
Our Malique Rankin shows us one place that keeps your donations right here in the community.
Chris Pakiz; Barnes & Noble Store Manager: "When it's here you locally, you know that that one book that you picked out, in a few weeks, will be in the hands of a child here in town."
Barnes & Noble is partnering with 6 local organizations to give children in the community something to look forward to on Christmas.
When you stop in your local Barnes and Noble, you'll see a table like this near the register with books you can purchase for donation. The prices range from a couple dollars to $15 and are for kids of all ages.
The goal is to gather 2,700 books this year.
Diana Hoffman; Donated three Books: "Well I remember when I was a kid at Christmas time, one of my favorite things to get was books. I loved to read, and I still love to read, so I thought, why not."
One of the organizations they'll go to is PATH, a Bismarck Family Services Agency.
Nick Cimarosti; PATH Case Manager: "What we do is kind of match those books up to the kids and get them to them for Christmas and then we get to maintain a bit of an inventory here at the office"
For the 41 PATH foster children, it's one more thing to appreciate this year.
Nick Cimarosti; PATH Case Manager: "Some of these kids, this is the first time they're getting to spend time with family for a holiday that care about them."
All in the spirit of giving.
Barnes and Noble will continue to collect books through the holiday season.
If you'd like to donate, just stop in your local store.
