Animal surrender event in Fort Yates Saturday

Ahead of the cold winter months, a giant animal rescue event is happening in Fort Yates tomorrow. It's called the Team No Frozen Fur Surrender Event.

Anyone who is unable to take care of their dogs or cats are welcome to give them up - no questions asked. Furry Friends Rockin' Rescue along with other animal groups are traveling south with a trailer loaded of supplies. When they arrive they'll be taking in animals and giving shots. Then, they'll distributing the animals they take in to foster homes all across North Dakota, Montana, Minnesota and Wisconsin. This is especially important as it gets colder outside.

"It's tough. These animals are going through some rough stuff. And when the weather gets down to 20 below, they don't make it. So, it's up to us to help," said Julie Schirado with Furry Friends Rockin' Rescue.

The event will happen tomorrow from 9 a.m. to Noon at the Game and Fish office in Fort Yates, 9418 11th Ave. For questions, call Bobbi at 701-230-1139.

There are ways to help the rescue efforts through Furry Friends at http://www.furryfriendsrockinrescue.org/donation/.
