Suspect Taken into Custody Following Search of Cornfiled Near Wilton

Perimeter had been set up around cornfiled for several hours

UPDATE:

McLean County Sheriff's Department says suspect has been taken into custody. There is no longer a threat to the Wilton community.

 

Authorities continue to search for a man following a high speed chase near  Highway 83 this afternoon.
A perimeter is set up around a cornfield five miles south and two miles west of Wilton as authorities continue the day long search.
Lt. Rick Richard with the McLean County Sheriff's Department says they took a call around 2 p.m. of a reckless driver north of Wilton.
A high speed chase ensued until the suspect fled on foot into a cornfield.
Richard says the man was driving a stolen red Chevy Cobalt.
Canine tracking units have been deployed as well as aerial support.
A reverse 911 call went out to advising Wilton residents to secure their homes and report suspicious activity.
Richard says they don't know if the man is armed.

Richard describes the suspect as average height and build and likely in his 20's.
