This last Saturday alone, 78 dogs and cats were rescued on the Standing Rock reservation. It was all a part of the Team No Frozen Fur surrender event.
38 dogs and 40 cats were turned into the Fort Yates game and fish. All of them went to various shelters across North Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, and Wisconsin. The volunteers saw animals in perfectly good health, but there were also others with injuries and some covered in mange. They said it was definitely a tough sight to see.
Fury Friends Rockin' Rescue volunteer said, "We really do cry a lot. But then we also have those really great victories where, again, the fact that there are going to be 1,000 less dogs and cats that will have the opportunity to reproduce. That's a big win, but we really can do more."
Hardy did say they were very well received by the community and plan to host more events like this in the future.
