2 to 3 Lane Conversion Project in Bismarck

Today the Bismarck city commission met to get your opinion on a proposed project. The main focus of the meeting was to discuss improvements that can be made to north Washington, divide, north 4th and north 19th street.

This project would install new permanent markings to change those roads from 2 lanes to 3.
The center lane would be a left turning lane-- so traffic doesn't come to a halt every time someone turns. They're also considering adding bike lanes, and in some areas, adding and removing on-street parking. The city's engineers were at the meeting to answer any questions.

Gabe Schell; City Engineer: "Re-striping the roadways would have the benefit of increased safety by potentially reducing the risk of rear-end crashes."

If you weren't able to attend tonight's meeting, but would still like to give your input, you can do so by clicking here.

If approved, construction on the project won't start until next year.
