Tim Olson

Tim Olson was born in Minot – and raised in the newsroom. Growing up, he spent many hours tagging along with his dad Jim on story shoots and watching him anchor evening newscasts at KX in Minot. Tim got his start at KX as a teenager working as a control room assistant. Since then, he has worn many hats: from anchoring weather and sports, to news reporting and producing KX News at 6 and 10. In 2017, he became the co-anchor of Good Day Dakota.

Tim graduated from Minot High School in 2009. He majored in music at Minot State University, where he graduated magna cum laude in 2014. When he's not sitting at the KX news desk, Tim can be found sitting behind a drum set; he regularly performs with regional acts such as Tigirlily, Harmon Lake, and Toppler Dixon. He lives in Bismarck with his cat Buster.

Tim anchors the KX News morning show, Good Day Dakota, weekdays from 5am - 7am with co-anchor Alysia Huck.
